The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at 5:30 a.m. on October 14, according to Fire Chief Nick Acciavatti. He said no one was inside the vehicle during the fire.

Dashwood Fire responded with two engines, a water tender, and a rescue truck. It also received help from the Qualicum Beach and Coombs fire departments, who also sent one engine each, according to Acciavatti.
