On Wednesday, St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) has announced that reservations for the authority’s three regional campgrounds are delayed for the 2022 season.
According to a report, avid campers of the St. Clair region (Canada) will have to wait a little longer to book reservations.
Originally scheduled to open on January 10, reservations for transient camping on Alvinston‘s A.W. Campbell campground, Petrolia‘s Lorne C. Henderson campground along with Warwick Conservation Areas will open on March 21.
The decision was made following the province’s announcement, which reinstated COVID-19 restrictions as a pandemic response.
“Because of the increase in COVID-19 cases and the government response, we are uncertain as to what capacity we will be able to operate our campgrounds this season,” said Greg Wilcox, manager of conservation areas at the SCRCA.
“We would rather delay accepting reservations than cancel bookings at a later date,” Wilcox added.
In the 2021 and 2020 camping seasons, the SCRCA restricted transient camping and refused to permit groups to camp in addition to other restrictions, to ensure the safety and health of staff and visitors.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of our camping community, and we look forward to welcoming campers back this spring for a fun and safe camping season.” he ended.
