The District of Hudson’s Hope is getting ready to begin the second phase of itsat Dinosaur Lake (Britsih Columbia, ) and the construction of the first .
The first phase was finished last year to set the roads and grounds, according to a report. Phase two will create one section of thewith ten , complete with fire , picnic tables, and site markers.
The district council has already approved CA$150,000 for capital expenses towards the project for this year’s budget.
Mayor Dave Heiberg expects half the sites to be operational this year, but no date has been set for opening.
“If everything goes accordingly, it’d be nice to have this place open,” Heiberg said.
“What we try to do is pre-approve certain capital projects that have been historically of benefit to us,” Heiberg added. “If we can get staff to work on these RFPs in the early part of the budget cycle, we have a greater opportunity to get more interest in tenders and a better price.”
Thewas pitched to the province about two years ago, with the district being awarded a CA$20,000 provincial grant to fund the project in 2019 and CA$100,000 set aside in reserve funding.
The site will be separate from the existing 17 district-ownedat the lake.
Heiberg said rustic-style bathrooms, as well as bear-proof waste and recycling bins, will also be installed at the new.
The operational expenses for thewill be partly funded through and fees. It is anticipated that the will reduce illegal on vacant Crown land, like Geddes Bay near Williston Lake.
