British Columbia’s Strathcona Regional District (SRD) has announced at its recent board meeting that Muchalat will remain open this winter.
Thewill remain open on a trial basis thanks to an agreement with the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development (FLNRO), Village of Gold River, SRD, and the Rod and Gun Club, according to a release.
An SRDgrant-in-aid of CA$1,000 and an additional grant of CA$1,000 from the Village of Gold River will assist the Gold River Rod and Gun Club to maintain and provide caretaking assistance to the during the winter.
“During the summer months, thisis run through & BC, and it regularly closes during the winter months, but with the determination of Gold River and Area A residents; the SRD and the Village of Gold River were successful in working together with the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development to achieve the goal of keeping the open throughout the winter,” said SRD Chair Brad Unger.
“The Muchalatis popular during the hunting season, and it will be great to see it well-used and enjoyed respectfully this winter with this pilot project.”
