After her disappearance during a family camping trip, a six-year-old girl was found safe, a report said.

According to the report, the area surrounding a southern Alberta campground was searched by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Alberta Sheriffs Alberta Fish and Wildlife, and helicopter crews. Search-and-rescue personnel also searched the area for signs of the girl.

Officials from the RCMP claim that the girl was camping at the Lodgepole Campground in Cypress Hills Provincial Park with her family when she failed to return to her campsite on Wednesday after playing in a field nearby.

Shortly after 7 p.m., her disappearance was reported by the RCMP.

The RCMP confirmed that the girl was found and was safe shortly after 10 a.m. on Thursday. The RCMP has not released any details regarding the girl’s disappearance, the report added.

RCMP claim that there was significant public support for the case, with many offers of assistance.

The campground is situated southeast of Medicine Hat, close to the Alberta-Saskatchewan border.
