CCRVC, RVDA of Canada to Meet with Legislators to Shed Light on Industry Issues

Every year, the Canadian Camping and RV Council (CCRVC) and RVDA of Canada work together to organize an advocacy event in Ottawa. On April 28, the Canadian associations’ leaders are scheduled to meet with federal legislators to bring forward industry issues that require greater attention.

During the event, board members meet with members of Parliament (MP), members of the Senate, and staff to raise awareness about issues affecting the industry.

“The opportunity for connection with government representatives is incredibly valuable to our association’s efforts to support members,” CCRVC stated in a newsletter.

At the advocacy event last year, RVDA of Canada and CCRVC representatives held a virtual meeting with Parliamentarians to talk about some recovery measures for the camping and RV industry after the pandemic. They also discussed the need for a fair tax regime for campgrounds across Canada.

“The promotion of the RV sector and proper infrastructure in our existing parks are crucial to the growth of the RVing and camping industries, as well as a prosperous Canadian tourism sector,” CCRVC said in a statement from last year’s RV & Camping Industry Lobby Day published on its website.

The current advocacy issues that CCRVC is advocating for include amending the Income Tax Act, pushing for more campgrounds to accommodate more RVs, seeking more government programs to attract seasonal or part-time campground employees, and more.

The RVing industry generates billions for the Canadian economy, with more first-time RVers and a new breed of vehicles hitting the road, campgrounds across the country require infrastructure upgrades to welcome new camping and RV technologies.

The 2022 RV and Camping Industry Advocacy Week will occur on April 28, just after the CCRVC board meetings and strategy sessions that same week.
