Canada’s First Métis Cultural Destination Features Campground, Lodge

Métis Crossing, dubbed as the first major Métis cultural interpretive center in Alberta (Canada) and a premier destination for Alberta Métis cultural interpretation, education, and gatherings, is celebrating its grand opening this weekend.

According to its website, nestled on 688 acres of land, comprised of river lot titles from the original Métis settlers in the late 1800s, the crossing is designed to engage and excite visitors through an exploration of Métis cultural experiences.

Métis Crossing features a campground, lodge, and wildlife park perfect for families and people of all ages.

As per the website, the Lodge at Métis Crossing is a 40-room boutique luxury lodge located on historical Métis river lots.

Métis Crossing offers camping opportunities, including RV sites, tent sites, and glamping in their traditional trappers tents.

The campground is near the Cultural Gathering Centre, overlooking the North Saskatchewan River.

The campground has 21 powered RV sites, two non-powered sites, four tent sites in trees, six trappers tents for four, and two trappers tents for two. Amenities include picnic tables, fire pits, and a washroom with showers.
